Delayed from May 2020, this AGM covered the activities of the Association for the year 2019.
45 households attended the meeting by Zoom, which represents about a quarter of the membership, and it was pleasing
that so many people took the time and trouble to join in.
Zoom hosting was provided by the Croydon Communities Consortium (CCC) and Elizabeth Ash was invited to Chair;
this was very helpful and Elizabeth kept things on track. Our local Councillors were also present to support,
and responded to a number of questions as they arose, which was greatly appreciated.
The meeting started with a report of the year 2019, acknowledging the work of Rita Barfoot, who has since sadly passed away.
The financial statement reported a modest profit for the year.
The manager of the East Surrey neo-natal unit in 2019, present as a member of CWRA, thanked the Association for its donation.
The gift had been made in the name of Rita Barfoot, following her passing, and went towards much needed incubators.
With a number of people willing to stand and no position opposed, it was agreed to vote all standing for committee in,
en bloc, by the unanimous decision of all members present.
The new Executive Committee is:
Richard Walker, Chair;
Lynne Rothberg, Vice Chair;
Yasmin Dubash, Secretary;
Rebecca Guildford, Treasurer.
Committee Members: Peter Appleford, Yvonne Walker, Keith Watkins
Following the election, the new Chair, Richard Walker, made a short speech thanking members, the Councillors, fellow committee
members and Elizabeth for bringing the AGM to fruition, and for supporting the Association.
Members were then invited to speak, bringing forth a number of observations and concerns as follows:
Improving the community – how can members get involved, without joining the committee?
Litter – our local ambassador for Keep Britain Tidy provided some contact details.
Planning – large, out-of-proportion developments in small streets are of major concern to members.
Ecology survey – where to report sightings, these can be useful for objections to planning applications
A number of websites and Facebook groups were mentioned as being useful and interesting to members

This was our first online meeting and proved very popular, with some good ideas and interests shared.
The new committee plan to harness the enthusiasm expressed at the meeting to hold another public meeting soon.
We are aware that a few people were unable to log in to the meeting due to technical issues;
this will be addressed for the next meeting, if it is necessary to hold it online again due to restrictions.
